What if data could help us listen more deeply?

At Unbound, families use Poverty Stoplight to identify their own priorities and track progress toward the goals that matter most to them. Their insights create a clearer picture of what matters most to their families and the future they're working to build.

Join Unbound Program Data Analyst, Ibrahima Ball, and Vetta founder, Davide Gallo, on July 9 to explore how organizations can use data to ask better questions, challenge assumptions and create greater impact.

Notes From the Road: Guatemala 🇬🇹

"Sponsored friend visit day at the Unbound Center in San Lucas Tolimán.
Maxwell and I had the privilege of meeting my mom Diane’s sponsored elder, Maria. Maria is 80 years old, and my mom is 82. She began sponsoring Maria just last Christmas. Although my mom could not travel, we were able to spend time together during the visit over FaceTime.

Maria lives in Huitán, about six and a half hours from the Unbound Center. She and her niece left home at 2:30 that morning to meet us.

Maria did not have formal schooling and began working on her family’s crops when she was 7. She married at 40, and her husband passed away eight years ago. Like my mom, she is a widow. Maria still tends to her crops, mostly corn, and occasionally does laundry for others. She never had children but is cared for by her nieces and nephews.
When my mom and Maria spoke over FaceTime, with translation from Mam to Spanish to English, they continued to thank one another and share how much they loved each other.

Despite the distance between them, geographically, culturally and in life experience, their bond was genuine. Both have lost their husbands. Both are facing health challenges. Both are still hard workers who want to care for others.

They each feel blessed to know someone is thinking of them, praying for them and wishing them well." 💛
