Thoughts of a young Chef by .kc
There is truly something magical about mother nature and the ingredients she provides. I’ve always said that regardless of what we cook we must respect every ingredient we use. To me there is a certain mystic about it all. When I cook I try to let each ingredient speak and when I develop new dishes and recipes I let the ingredients as well as my palate tell me where to go next. For me it’s cooking with instinct. What can we do with this vegetable or sauce. What can we do with this chicken or beef. Once we figure out what to do we must then ask why are we doing it the way we are doing it. I try and find an understanding between man and nature, try to find the balance. As once said “nature is the true artist, and I am just the cook.” That quote inspired me to look deeper into what I do as a Chef, taught me to respect nature and the gifts it provides. I think there is truly something special about it all.

Join us for the first Revival Dinner in a series planned and prepared by some of Kansas City's greatest chefs to support the Community Meals Project.
This Sunday, August 9th, Chef Brandon Winn, executive chef of the recent Webster House, is working with us to create a full six-course meal, complete with a cocktail hour sponsored by
J. Rieger & Co. and Amigoni Urban Winery at The Core, Kanbe's Markets nonprofit warehouse.
Tickets are $100 (or if you can donate more we would greatly appreciate it) and include 2 drink tickets per person. Purchase your seat via the Eventbrite link below.
In an effort to ensure everyone's safety, only 30 tickets are available. You will only be seated with members of your own party, and tables will be a minimum of six feet apart in the venue. When not seated, we ask that you please wear a mask.
Help us raise money to feed the hungry, and have a little fun (plus a delicious meal!) doing it.

"I don't know any group of professionals that mobilize as fast and often as chefs do when there are people who are in need." - Chef José Andrés
Thank you to The Rieger for serving over 84,000 meals since the beginning of the pandemic. When Kansas City needed them most, they turned themselves into the Crossroads Community Kitchen.
