Hesed Discipleship Network

Faithfulness rarely looks dramatic in the moment. It looks like showing up on the ordinary Tuesday when you’d rather stay home. It looks like staying in the room when leaving would be easier. It looks like making the relationship bigger than any problems.

That’s the kind of presence that changes everything — not loud, not perfect, just consistently there.

Who is Jesus inviting you to stay close to, even when it means you giving something of yourself away?

Five years ago, three men decided to show up for each other, intentionally, consistently. That’s it. That’s how a small expression of a relational discipleship started.

What began as a small group in 2020 has grown into something we couldn’t have planned,  a community of people learning to love well, heal together, and walk with Jesus in real, honest relationship.

Four rounds of our 10-month relational discipleship journey. Countless moments of breakthrough. A man who rediscovered joy. A woman who finally felt safe. A mom who stopped parenting from panic.

The numbers have grown, but the recipe stays the same:

People heal and grow in spiritual maturity when they are securely attached to others. That’s the heartbeat of everything we do, and we’re just getting started.

Each week, members of our Hesed community are invited to join a virtual Roundtable group over Zoom at 12:00 PM CST. What began as a simple weekly gathering over zoom has become a meaningful meeting place of hearts and stories shared week after week at a virtual table from all over the world.

Back in March, Loise shared a social media post that beautifully captured what Roundtable and Hesed have come to mean to so many of us. I asked if she would be open to us sharing her experience here, and she graciously said yes.

A wall says “I don’t trust you.” A boundary says “I trust myself.” That’s the difference.

You can be warm, open, and full of love, and still have a nonnegotiable.

You can forgive someone and still choose distance.

You can care deeply and still say no.

Scripture reminds us that our hearts are the wellspring of everything we do. So guardrails for tending to it aren’t selfish, it’s stewardship. Treat your heart like the sacred space it is.
