Our nation’s veterans have earned our deepest respect not just in life, but in the honors they receive at their final farewell.

For 30 years, the Momence Honor Guard has faithfully provided military last rites for veterans across our community, ensuring each service is conducted with dignity and honor. Now, we have an opportunity to give back.

Join us tomorrow, Thursday, April 30, from 4:00–9:00 PM at Chicago Dough Pizza. Whether you dine in or carry out, 20% of all sales will directly support the Honor Guard in purchasing uniforms for new members.

Kankakee GOP Names New Leadership Team Following County Convention

In accordance with Illinois state statute, the Kankakee County Republican Central Committee convened on April 15, 2026, for its bi-annual county convention. During the meeting, elected precinct committeemen unanimously selected the following individuals to serve in leadership roles for the upcoming term:

Chairman: Eric Cavender
Vice-Chairwoman: Sandra Cianci
Secretary: Mary “Elizabeth” Provost
Treasurer: Colton Ekhoff

Additionally, the Committee unanimously cast its votes in support of the following candidates for State Central Committeeman:

Congressional District 1: Patrick Sheehan
Congressional District 2: Jason Bunting

The Kankakee County Republican Central Committee remains committed to supporting and electing Republican candidates at every level of government, from local school boards and municipal offices to statewide and federal positions.

Chairman Eric Cavender emphasized a forward-looking vision for the organization, stating: “This is a new chapter for the Kankakee County Republican Party. We are committed to restoring trust, growing a stronger and more united organization, and actively engaging with residents on the issues that matter most to their families right here in Kankakee County.
