Dog knowledge that should be more common. Is your dog, nervous, insecure, aggressive, or on trusting of people? You’ve definitely been given the advice to give new people food to give to your dog, and for some reason that advice is also given out for over excitable dogs, which makes just as little sense. It’s interesting that the average dog does not sniff me when I come into the house, and it’s because we completely go against nature. Dogs should smell you in order to find out all of the information that they need. Unfortunately, we don’t give our dogs a chance to smell new people, or even us for that matter, because we’re too busy, trying to shove food down their throat or throwing a party like they just won the World Series every time that we see a dog. The cultural shift towards dogs does not help their behavior. Now, listen, I’m not saying, don’t love dogs, or don’t give dogs treats, I’m just saying, let it dog be a dog and figure it out without conflict or creating stressful events for things that should be non-stressful.
