HIMB Research Experiences in Marine Science Summer Program

Hoʻomaikaʻi to our 2025 REMS Cohort!!! Our students did an amazing job at our Research Hō'ike sharing out on their finding of their intensive research projects. We are so PROUD of you all! 🥳

Hāwa’e - a sea urchin often thought to lack substance. Yet, the Hāwa’e Maoli (Collector Sea Urchin), native to Hawai’i, plays a crucial role in maintaining our reefs in Kāne’ohe Bay by controlling invasive algal growth. In an effort to study their fertilization rates and how they might differ at varying levels of nutrients/salinity, our team is hard at work studying these fascinating organisms!!!!!!!!
