The Frosty Residence
A Sugary Seasonal Retreat

Designed for a cheerful family of snowfolk, the Frosty Residence brings together cozy confectionery craftsmanship and wintry charm to create a home meant for merriment, warmth of spirit, and year-round (sub-freezing) comfort.

Inspired by an actual home designed by InForm Architecture, the building pairs a scrumptious homemade gingerbread structure with high-contrast Oreo piers and warm pirouline wafer columns. Carefully crafted candy-glass windows with licorice frames capture the glint of holiday lights. Balanced massing ensures every space feels intentional—celebrating festive gatherings and the magic of each snowfall.

Throughout the home, gingerbread, icing, and candy harmonize to create a place where snowfolk thrive. Outdoors a glossy corn-syrup pool and caramel retaining wall create a playful landscape for frosty fun amongst the upturned ice-cream cone trees.

Whether hosting cocoa-scented evenings or daydreaming—just a little—of what life might be like in summer, this sweet retreat is designed to delight in every season.

🥳Congrats to the Kalamazoo Farmers Market on the newest addition to their Bank Street site!

We were proud to stand alongside project partners— OCBA, InForm Architecture , and Owen-Ames-Kimball —to celebrate the completion of the new Don Cooney Cultivation Center earier this week.

This thoughtfully designed space honors the legacy of Commissioner Don Cooney, who just concluded 26 years of dedicated service to the City of Kalamazoo.

The center will host weekly winter markets, community gatherings, and serve as the primary home for Kzoo Parks’ after-school programming—creating a year-round hub for connection, learning, and local pride.

Kalamazoo Farmers Market was awarded the 2022 Southwest Michigan American Public Works Association’s Project of the Year Award for Quality of Life, for projects greater than $1M.

INFORM Architecture teamed with Prein and Newhof, and OCBA Landscape Architects to re-image and define the New Kalamazoo Farmers Market. We are grateful for the opportunity and the trust from the City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation Department to enhance one of our Kalamazoo community’s traditions.

The award exemplifies the goals of the project and aligns with the mission of the Kalamazoo Farmers Market.
