This distinction is a testament to our teachers’ and students’ hard work!
Joshua ISD is proud to announce its selection as a CTE District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT)!
This highly-acclaimed recognition celebrates school districts that demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation and commitment to student success through top-notch Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
This program highlights districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster creativity and inspire others through their dedication to student achievement and community impact. Honored districts are chosen based on rigorous criteria, including innovative programming, industry-based certifications (IBCs), alignment with workforce needs and exceptional student outcomes.
JISD strives for excellence in the CTE programs and courses it offers our students.
It all starts in middle school, where eighth-grade students take a course called Plan Your Path that prepares them for postsecondary readiness. They take assessments to identify their interests and aptitudes and align them with potential career options. Students then create a four-year graduation plan focused on their postsecondary goals. In the spring, they visit JHS to explore endorsement pathways and discover the opportunities available as they transition to high school.
Once in high school, students can follow 16 CTE pathways and earn 17 IBCs. In 2024-25, 262 IBCs were earned, and 97% of all high school students in JISD took at least one CTE course. JISD also offers four Career and Technical Student Organizations to align with the pathways, expand learning and provide additional extracurricular activities.
