Thank you to the Arkansas State Conference NAACP for inviting Matthew Lloyd, LPC-S, RPT, Ed.S. to be part of this important discussion on Black men's mental health. We appreciate the opportunity to serve and share!
π§ Black Men's Mental Health Matters
JOIN THE DISCUSSION THIS MORNING
In Arkansas, approximately 1 in 4 adults experiences a mental health condition each year. Nationally, an estimated 20% of Black adults experience a mental illness annually, yet Black men are among the least likely groups to seek mental health treatment.
Among young Black men ages 18β25, mental health challenges are especially concerning, with nearly 1 in 3 young adults reporting symptoms associated with a mental health condition each year.
About 20β25% of adults in Arkansas report having a mental health condition each year.
Arkansas consistently ranks among states with higher rates of mental health challenges and limited access to providers.
Specific data for Black males in Arkansas is limited, but experts estimate rates are similar to or slightly higher than national averages due to economic, healthcare access, and social stress factors.
It's time to break the stigma. Strength is not suffering in silence. Strength is seeking support, having honest conversations, and prioritizing mental wellness.
π Check on the Black men and boys in your life. π Listen without judgment. π Encourage support and healing.
Mental health is health.
Proud to be partners with JPS and CareSolace!

Busy Friday at Secure Foundation Counseling! π
This morning, we had the honor of being invited to the Career Fair at International Studies Magnet School! We had such a great time meeting the students and sharing more about what it takes to become a counselor.
Then we spent the afternoon serving lunch to the amazing, hardworking teachers at East Poinsett County High School for Teacher Appreciation Week! π We are so thankful for everything you do for our kiddos each and every day. We hope you all enjoyed the Fazoliβs lunch! β¨
