It has now been 9 years of constant cat trapping for me.
Thank you Scruffy Paws, Pet Refuge, East Bay Pawswatch and all my donators for helping me acomplish my goals.
I finally had time to sit down and go over my notes to get my rescue numbers for 2025.
This year was tough. I work full time as a welder and part time as an Uber driver I squeeze in cat rescue when I can but only really have time for emergencies. Pregnant cats, mamas and kittens, sick, injured and lost at an unformilliar location.
Not too much colony or TNR work.
I can’t hold and process cats properly.

Street Kittens trapped 62
Pregnant females trapped 17
Tame mamas with kittens 11
Kittens born inside 54
Trap Neuter/spay Return 17
Tame cats rescued 6
Microchipped 1
Dying cat ER 2
Trapped Broken leg amputation 2
Barn placement 5

In 9 years of work I’ve acomplish approximately 650 kittens trapped.
Another 550 born inside from pregnant trapped mama cats.
Thats over 1000 kittens taken off the streets.
I don’t really have accurate numbers. I’m just going off averages.
I lost a lot of my records recorded on old phones.
Thank you all for the suport and donations over the years.

Because some of you were asking about the shelters I make from screw top barrels. Check facebook marketplace for people selling these barrels. Buy the Azek material for the awning.
DO NOT USE PLYWOOD OR ANY WOOD FOR SHELTERS
USE AZEK FRAMING MATERIAL FROM HOME DEPOT.
Wood rots and breaks down fast outside, especially plywood. Paint does nothing. Wooden shelters look good for a couple years maybe then fall apart.
These barrels will last many years. They are heavy plastic and big.
I do not insulate, I only load with straw. Don’t use that reflective material. It only falls on the straw. The cats claw and wreck it and it does not actually reflect heat, it just gets in the way.
Try this design.

*UPDATE*
This old guy went to the vet today.
Blood tests show he has a thyroid issue and he was anemic. He is an ear tripped cat but I did not do the TNR myself. I have notes from this colony from 5 years ago that say he is a somewhat tame cat.
He’s in foster care now resting. I will be looking to place him into a home to fill out his days off the street.
After temperament evaluation I’ll update the post.

I finally had a chance to grab this old sickly guy after work today.
He’ll be handed off to another rescue person tomorrow morning and brought to the vet to get cleaned up and examined. I think he’s just old. He’s been living the barrel shelter I dropped off for him.
I’ve been monitoring him on a cell trail camera for about a week now. This location is a small colony in Providence. This guy has been around for years but I could never trap him to TNR him. I’m always bogged down with so many emergencies. I’m hoping we can get him back on track and living in someone’s home that will understand him.

Long day. Trapped 6 older kittens and one pregnant mama who was probably the mama to some of the kittens and already pregnant again.
I’m going to ask for help on this one. I need rescues with experience in taming older kittens in Rhode Island These guys weigh about 2.5-3.5 pounds.
It’s two litters. There’s 4 young ones and two slightly older ones. There’s even two more still out there. They have shelters and a feeder.
This is part of a big colony in Providence. I found it on my own by chance.

Remember that kitten I pulled out of that rotten tree earlier in the year? The kitten was the last of a litter where mama was nesting in a rotted out tree. This baby climbed way up the hollow tree and stayed there. Mama moved the kittens and left her behind. I never found the other kittens or the mama. The property owners could hear a kitten crying inside the tree so I was called out.
We had to cut the small tree down to get her out.
