Family Plays Together and Wins Together

The Reuter family plays Powerball® together whenever the jackpot starts growing to large amounts. During a recent family gathering, someone mentioned that the current jackpot was nearing $1 billion, so the four couples pooled their money and tasked Sue Reuter with purchasing the tickets for this jackpot run.

Sue bought tickets for the Wednesday drawing but didn’t get around to scanning them until that Saturday. Using the Hoosier Lottery app, Sue scanned the tickets and was surprised to see a message stating she won and would need to go to the Hoosier Lottery’s Prize Payment office to claim her winnings.

“I had no idea how much we won,” said Sue. “I had to ask my husband,” she laughed. When her husband told her they won $50,000, Sue was shocked. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said.

While Sue’s husband locked the ticket in their safe, she texted her family members to let them know they won. None of them believed her at first, but they were all thrilled when they realized they really had won.

A couple of the family members plan to use their winnings for a family vacation or home improvements, and the others will put theirs in the bank.

Tyrrell County man could hardly sleep after $1 million Powerball Prize

Lloyd Armstrong from Columbia stopped for gas on his way to play pool Friday night, and left with a ticket that would pocket him a $1 million Powerball prize.

Armstrong bought the $2 ticket from Duck Thru Food Store on U.S. 64 East in Columbia. When his wife and son told him Sunday about a winning ticket in Tyrrell County. Armstrong recalled thinking, “Okay, wow. I really need to check my ticket.”

Armstrong, an insurance agent, conducted the check in his living room that night and saw his numbers matched the numbers on all five white balls in the drawing. The odds of matching all five white balls to win $1 million are 1 in 11.6 million. After discovering his win, Armstrong and his wife took pictures of the ticket.

Oak Grove woman delivers big surprise after Ob-gyn check up.

An Oak Grove woman has claimed the $2 million Kentucky Lottery Powerball prize from the October 4 drawing. After discovering she won, Jacalyn Armstrong called her husband, Jonathan, to tell him the news. Jacalyn had just left an Ob-gyn appointment when she called Jonathan at work. “I told him I had some news and at first, he didn’t believe me,” Jacalyn said laughing. You could tell I was in tears, and he thought I was going to tell him I was pregnant.” Jacalyn said. “My mom thought the same thing when I called her.” “I was like, what is wrong with you all?” “The Powerball news was just as exciting,” Jonathan said. The couple have three children, the youngest being just six months old. Jacalyn told lottery officials she doesn’t play the lottery often. “When it (jackpot) gets big, my co-workers talk about it,” she said. “One of them even said, “you should buy a ticket.”” It had been a while since Jacalyn had played online so she had to first get her password reset before being able to purchase her tickets. “I hadn’t even told him (husband) that I bought tickets, so he was even more surprised,” she said. Jacalyn purchased a total of six Powerball tickets. The winning ticket matched the five white ball numbers winning the game’s $1 million second prize. Since adding Power Play to her tickets, her prize doubled from $1 million to $2 million. Jacalyn, along with her husband and two children had plans to visit Jonathan’s family, who live in Pennsylvania over Fall break and made plans to stop at the lottery office Wednesday on their way back home from their visit. After taxes, Jacalyn received a check for over $1.4 million. The couple said they plan to give some money to their church, purchase a larger home and buy a new car.

Alabama woman Claims $2 million Powerball® Prize.

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Lottery (Lottery) announces that Brenda Holman, 68, of Headland, AL claimed a $2 million prize from the POWERBALL® drawing held at the Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Wayne County woman wins $100,000 Powerball prize:

RALEIGH – Jennifer Nunn of Goldsboro took a chance on a $3 Powerball ticket and won a $100,000 prize in Wednesday’s drawing. Nunn bought her lucky Quick Pick ticket from Quick Mart on North Spence Avenue in Goldsboro. She matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. The prize doubled to $100,000 when the 2X Power Play multiplier hit. Nunn claimed her prize Thursday at lottery headquarters and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $71,251.
