“Designing for Impact: Balancing Innovation and Embodied Carbon in Data Centers”
Learn how strategic design and integration decisions can help reduce embodied carbon while supporting the flexibility and scalability required for next-generation AI environments.
If you're attending WiMCO, be sure to stop by and join the discussion. We hope to see you there!
We’re underestimating embodied carbon, and interiors are the reason why.
A study by LMN found that tenant improvements can account for roughly 50% of a building’s total embodied carbon over time.
Why? Because interiors get replaced approximately every 10 years.
Raised access flooring helps break that cycle:
- Adapt spaces without major demolition
- Reduce renovation frequency
- Support reuse of the space instead of replacement
The takeaway: Designing for flexibility = designing for lower carbon.
