A small social cue that can have a surprisingly big impact on first impressions and relationships.
When someone offers you a bottle of water, a cup of coffee, or even to pick up the check, they're usually not trying to get something from you. They're extending hospitality.

When you automatically decline, you may think you're being polite. But the other person may see it as rejecting their generosity.

You're rejecting yourself before anyone else has the chance.

One of my favorite moments from my conversation with Rebecca was this simple reminder:

"If you don't ask, the answer is always no."

Most people aren't held back by a lack of ability. They're held back by the fear of hearing "no."
