Celebrating 22 Years of Dedicated Service
The vision for Harbor House Ministries began when two families gathered around a kitchen table, discussing what the future might hold for their children with multiple, severe impairments.
They envisioned a future where their children could pursue their interests, grow in their faith, build meaningful friendships, and thrive in a supportive community. At the time, there were very few accessible housing options in West Michigan, and conversations with state and local officials revealed there were no plans to develop additional housing for individuals with complex needs.

From those conversations, Harbor House Ministries was born.

Our History
- 2000: Harbor House Ministries was established.
- A nonprofit Board of Directors was formed.
- Plans were developed to build accessible housing for adults with complex needs.
- 2003: Construction began in Jenison, Michigan.
- 2004: Our first home, Pier Place, officially opened its doors.

As we reflect on our journey, we are especially grateful for the people who have faithfully carried out our mission from the very beginning.
Today, we are honored to celebrate 22 years of service by two remarkable team members who were among Harbor House Ministries' very first employees, beginning on July 1, 2004.
