John Humiston Post #11 American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5613 and the Town of Jaffrey cordially invite citizens of Jaffrey and the surrounding towns to join us on Tuesday morning, November 11, to observe Veterans Day. Parking for the parade will be at Community Field where there will be facilities. The parade of veterans will assemble at Blake Street at 10:15 am, step off at 10:40 am, and march to the Town Common. There a prayer will be offered, a wreath laid, an address delivered by the Commander of the Jaffrey VFW Post #5613, Dale Smith, and the National Anthem will be played. Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11 each year, a day when Armistice Day, as it was originally called, marked the end of the First World War at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Today, Veterans Day honors all veterans of the armed forces who have served their country. We extend a special invitation to those veterans who have served, and those who are still serving their country, to march with us. If you need a ride, please call Marc Tieger at 603-532-8765. At the conclusion of the parade, light refreshments will be available at the American Legion on Webster Street. At noon The Park Theatre will offer complimentary pizza for veterans and all military personnel, and will show the 1960 vintage move “Where Eagles Dare” starring Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton. This free event will be shown at 12:30PM and again at 6:30PM.
