POV: you just realize you come with legs 😳 After rescuing Cosmo from the street with a spinal cord injury, the ER doctors told us he’d likely be paralyzed for life. His back legs were completely limp, and for days, he couldn’t move them… But then, as I was wiping him down with some wet wipes the other day, his legs suddenly started to react and move! I couldn’t believe it. We saw a neurologist yesterday, and he gave us the best news: Cosmo’s injury is in a place that gives him about an 80% chance of regaining function in his legs!!! We’re not entirely sure what that will look like, but the fact that there’s a big chance he may walk again is incredible and mind-blowing 😭 He’s not in pain, he can go potty on his own, and we only need to keep him on crate rest for another 2-3 weeks while his bones finish healing. Apparently kitten bones heal super fast 🙌 Once a callus forms on his fracture, he can be a free kitten! Then it’ll take another 8-12 weeks for his legs to get stronger and for us to see how much function comes back. That’s when we’ll know what his new “normal” looks like. We’re taking it one day at a time, but things are looking so so hopeful 🖤💫 #feralcat #rescue #catsoft #disabledcats
