🚨🐾 IT’S $5 FRIDAY! — A SECOND CHANCE FOR A SWEET TOM CAT 🐾🚨

This week, while one of our fosters was out doing TNR, she came across this poor, friendly male tom cat.

He was covered in scars, overheated, exhausted and clearly having a hard time surviving in the colony😢. He was taken in to be neutered through TNR, but afterward, his foster couldn’t stop thinking about him. She asked whether he could come into the rescue as a foster instead of being returned.

Being an unneutered male, he was likely spending his days battling other tom cats just to survive. His body shows how difficult life outside has been for him.

Despite everything, he is incredibly sweet and loves giving headbutts💙. He doesn’t want to fight anymore. He just needs a quiet place to rest, plenty of food and the love and TLC he has gone without for far too long.

We are still drowning in kittens, and every day we receive more requests for help than we can possibly handle. But when we looked at this sweet, sad boy…how could we say no?

This $5 Friday, please consider donating toward his care and the many other cats and kittens depending on us. Even $5 helps provide food, medical care, flea prevention and everything else he needs to begin his new life.

🐾 He has survived the hardest part. Now it’s time for him to learn what it feels like to be safe🐾

💙Please donate, share and help us give this sweet boy the second chance he deserves. 💙

💔🐾Sometimes rescue happens at 2:36 in the morning. 💔🐾

Early Tuesday morning, around 12:30 AM, one of our fosters was scrolling Facebook before bed when she saw a post about a tiny 5–6 week old kitten alone at Mayport😿.

The poster said the kitten’s eyes were matted shut and she wasn’t able to catch him on her own. The post didn’t go online until almost midnight, which meant it was too late for most people to even see it, much less drive out and help.

Our foster messaged our director, who was thankfully still awake. They grabbed supplies and drove the 30–40 minutes out to Mayport around 1 AM to see if they could find him.

After searching for a while, they finally spotted him.

He definitely had a URI, but thankfully his eyes were open. He was tiny, scared, and very fast. He kept using a bushy area to run and hide — an area full of fire ants — and on the other side was gated property he could get into, but they couldn’t.

At that point, the only option was to try to coax him out on his own.

They set up a large carrier with food all the way in the back, hoping they could trick him inside. It took about an hour and a half of patience, waiting, and trying not to scare him before they finally got him safely contained.

The last picture shows the timestamp of the moment he was finally caught: 2:36 AM!

We have no idea how this little baby ended up out there alone. Mayport isn’t an area we travel to often, but we couldn’t sleep knowing a sick, scared kitten was out there by himself needing medical care.

He is safe now, but he will need treatment, food, vetting, and lots of TLC before he’s ready for adoption.

This is why donations matter. This is why fosters matter. This is why we answer the late-night messages when we can.

Please consider donating toward his care and the many other kittens currently depending on us. Every dollar helps us say “yes” when a tiny life needs us most. 💙
