Long ago, kinuta-uchi was the finishing process in producing textiles 🔨 By repeatedly beating the fabric it brought out the luster and softness desired. This wood print is by Harunobu Suzuki (1725-1770), one of the best known in the Japanese Edo Era 🎨 These color prints are called nishikie and the poem featured is by Sagami.

A beloved Christmas present from the Toyo Spinning Co. (currently Toyo Cotton Co.) to Sidney Y. West (1885-1970) 🎁 He was the President of many cotton organizations in the mid-south including the Southern Cotton Shipper's Association, Arkansas Cotton Trade Association, Little Rock Cotton Exchange, American Cotton Shipper's Association and the Memphis Cotton Exchange 🧵
