Memphis Minnie
Memphis Minnie (1897–1973) was a pioneering American blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. Born Lizzie Douglas in Louisiana, she was one of the first women to play electric guitar and front her own bands.

Active from the 1920s through the 1950s, she recorded over 200 sides, blending Delta blues with Chicago blues. Hits like Bumble Bee, When the Levee Breaks, and Me and My Chauffeur Blues showcased her fierce vocals and sharp, aggressive guitar style.

A major influence on later blues and rock musicians, Memphis Minnie broke gender barriers in a male-dominated scene and helped shape modern blues.
