With the Gregory Brown Memorial Race this upcoming Saturday, We thought some class previews are in order. Here is the first for VTA.

VTA — Memorial Race Preview
With Scooby Horton sitting out the Memorial Race, the VTA class arrives at its most wide-open moment of the season. The man who has dominated both Sundays of Summer rounds won't be on the grid Sunday, and that changes everything.

Gene White — who runs under the VTA4LIFE banner — steps into the role of race favorite. He's been the closest thing to Scooby all season with back-to-back runner-up finishes in the series, and the Memorial gives him his first real shot at the top step.

Marius Akim has been right there with Gene in the last series race. Expect him to be in the hunt again. Tyson Knight, who has shown pace throughout the season, will look to put it all together for a Memorial podium.

The field itself is a story. Twenty-two entries make this the largest VTA turnout of the year, and the roster is loaded with drivers who know how to race. Nino Vazquez crosses over from M Chassis. Brian Kennedy, Carl Casimir, and Casey McKenna are multi-class competitors who know every inch of the Jackson asphalt. Chris Palermo, Joe Ortiz, Angelo Koutras, Kregg Kerr, and Nat Insumran add real depth through the middle of the field.

With 22 cars, the B-Main will be a race in itself — drivers on the bubble will be fighting hard for every transfer spot.

The Memorial Race carries no series points, but bragging rights are very much on the line — and with the series leader absent, whoever stands on top of the VTA podium Sunday will have plenty to talk about.
