🇩🇪 GERMANY | Day 5 (Day 19 of our trip) 🎶🇦🇹
Today we took a day trip from Munich to Salzburg for The Original Sound of Music Tour, and it was such a fun experience!
The tour took us to several filming locations from The Sound of Music while sharing behind-the-scenes stories and historical context about both the movie and Salzburg itself. Even if you’re not a huge fan of the film, the scenery alone makes the trip worth it.
The tour normally ends with a visit to Mirabell Gardens, where the famous “Do-Re-Mi” scene was filmed, but unfortunately we didn’t get to see it. The Klang Parade was happening, and the crowds were intense—a little too overwhelming for me—so we decided to head back toward the train station instead.
One helpful travel tip if you’re planning this day trip: get to the train early. The ride from Munich to Salzburg is only about 1.5–2 hours, which makes it very doable, but today our outbound train was standing room only for the first several stops. Thankfully, we had better luck getting seats on the ride back!
Tomorrow we’re off to Rothenburg ob der Tauber for the final stop of this European adventure. It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the end of this journey. ❤️
