We took five trailer park kitties in to be TNRed this morning- but only four came back. 😔

One of the feral cats from the Jackson Mobile Home Park had a severe case of stomatitis. Stomatitis in cats (Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis) is a severely painful, debilitating condition where a cat's immune system overreacts to dental plaque, causing intense inflammation and ulcers in the mouth. The only solution would have been a full mouth extraction (no more teeth).
It is not possible for a feral cat to survive without teeth, and human interaction severely stressed him out.. so we had to agree with the vet recommendation and put him down while he was still under anesthesia. With how advanced the stomatitis was, the poor guy had to have been in a tremendous amount of pain. We couldn't stomach releasing him to just continue suffering, living outside full time the way he did was bad enough. ~ R.I.P Ziggs ~

CheddarCheese tested NEGATIVE for FIV/FELV thankfully so he will be able to be returned to the park he's used to, instead of having to be a solo barn kitty. Him and the others are healthy, two are mamas that won't have to birth anymore babies and the brown tabby is a young boy. All four were fixed, vaccinated and treated for parasites 💗

We are in need of some essential items- could you help?

We desperately need formula powder for both kittens and raccoons, wet food for TNR/trapping and benebac to help with anyone having diarrhea or gut issues 🫶🏻

Having these items allows us to stay steady with intakes, because truth is.. we can't intake babies anymore if we can't keep these items in stock. Tiny babies need around the clock care, and we are absolutely blowing through formula, gloves and syringes. Please take a peep at our wishlist if you can♥️

Despite the seemingly constant feeds, we are also still doing TNR. The wait list is so long.. how could we stop? We have a handful of kitties getting fixed this upcoming week- and most of them are mamas that don't deserve to have any more babies outside.

"If you're always available how is it that your mailbox is full and nobody is answering?"

Every single rescuer is tired and barely hanging on right now. We don't sit around on our phones and just wait for you to call us, and we don't have to. We will answer what we can and when we can. Sometimes I set my phone down and get so caught up in tasks I can't even remember where I set it.

We are busy. We have lives to save. Even if YOU yourself do not see it. Busy we remain. We are also human.

If you genuinely need help? Being disrespectful to the people willing to help; isn't going to get you anywhere.
Some days are dark days in rescue, and you never know when a rescuer is having one of those days.

I just lost my second tiny baby of the year, and I was at the school with my daughter for her Field Day.. then I got another text (over a week after the first rude interaction) "I didn't intend to call again"

Clearly it wasn't an urgent situation then!

HLAR is a VERY small foster-based rescue, we are not a state funded shelter, we don't have a building, and yet we still work really hard so we can make a difference for the animals in our area. But we CAN'T rescue them all. It's not possible.

✨We most definitely do NOT have to tolerate human bully behavior or even subtle/passive aggression in our inboxes.✨

All of us rescuers are struggling with baby season right now, support your local rescues if you're able- even if it's something small from their wishlist, sharing their posts, or telling them they are doing great. Its ALL noticed and its ALL appreciated. ♥️

We took this girl on a whim yesterday after seeing a picture of her in a box covered in her own f***s.. the finder had her for two whole days before reaching out, she had a gnarly open injury on her arm, she was ice cold and very tiny.

Please understand if a baby is injured, they need help as soon as possible - never wait if they have a severe injury. Those two days had to have been agonizing for such a small baby.

Thanks to the amazing Barb, we had more incubators and some supplies arrive shortly after getting her so we got her snuggled into her own little space to warm up.

We were able to keep her somewhat comfortable through the night, gave sub q fluids, nutrients and glucose drops.. but sadly - she passed around noon.

Rest in peace little one, you were loved. 💔
