Our hearts and prayers go out to the Baker Family. Mr. Baker would visit the Campus Store often and we had joy listening to the first hand account of events leading to May 15, 1970. Forever in our prayers 💙🤍.

The Jackson State University family extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of James "Lap" Baker.
Baker was a member of the Golden Class of 1970 and a pivotal advocate for establishing the annual Gibbs-Green Commemoration at Jackson State. He also served as an adjunct professor for more than 23 years.
