About the proposed data center on Cayuga Lake:

TeraWulf, a bitcoin mining company-turned AI data center company, is proposing a 300 or 400 Megawatt AI data center on the shores of Cayuga Lake. This development will bring adverse environmental, quality of life, and economic impacts to much of all life as we know it throughout the Cayuga Lake watershed. Our first panelist, Kevin Lanahan of the New York Independent Systems Operator (NYISO), will provide an overview of how New York's electric grid operates. NYISO manages the state's high-voltage transmission system, oversees competitive wholesale electricity markets, and conducts long-term power system planning. Kevin will discuss the key factors shaping the future of our electric system, including the challenges affecting both affordability and reliability.

Our second panelist, Laurie Wheelock of the PUBLIC UTILITY LAW PROJECT OF NEW YORK INC (PULP), will share insights into PULP's work in rate cases before the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC). PULP has been a leading advocate for consumers as investor-owned utilities seek increases in electric delivery rates, working to ensure that affordability remains central to energy policy decisions.

Sustainable Finger Lakes has been actively engaging in conversations about the future of our electric system. Don't miss this timely conversation about the future of New York's electric system, the pressures it faces, and the decisions that will shape its resilience for years to come.
