Tucked off the beaten path of 127 in Ithaca, MI is Country Chef Cafe.

I grew up in a small village called Edmore, MI, and Ithaca was on my dad’s way home from work. He’d drive from Edmore to Lansing every day, so sometimes my mom and I would drive to Country Chef Cafe and meet him for dinner. Keep in mind, this was around 20 years ago… But what we remember the most (besides the memories with my dad) was how good the burgers were.

So tonight I asked my mom if she wanted to drive over to Ithaca and get a burger. I’m not kidding when I say they’re just as we remember them, and they’re so good. It was a full half pound burger that comes with coleslaw. You can add fries or waffle fries for extra. They offer over 40 different burgers and even have a full pound burger on the menu. I appreciate that the burger wasn’t grease laden and you could tell that the buns they used were fresh. They even toasted them a bit on the grill top.

I got the Moose Breath burger, which had Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onion, and a garlic aioli. I added green olives because I love them.

If you find yourself out that way, drop by. You will leave very full and happy.
