We never know the ways our words, actions, and/or art can make a difference out in the world. Today someone shared this copy of with me. He had gifted it to me”someone who needed to read your words.” It’s all I ever hope for in my work- that it reaches people and can make a positive difference in their lives. I hope for a ripple effect and I trust in the process.

Yesterday we explored Treman State Park. It was so healing to descend into the cracks of the earth, alongside waterfalls, tucked into rock benches while red and yellow leaves drifted down into the still pools of water.
Thanks to .wildlife , I committed to ever practicing with manual settings. I usually love documentary photography and candid portraits but these scenes were captivating. Thanks to I got to experiment with motion blur. Hard to believe I never sought solace here back in the day. I’m so grateful to have these new memories.

When I was a student at many moons ago, my focus was on boyfriends, friends, parties, and schoolwork- (likely in that order). I never listened to the voice inside me that chose Ithaca in the first place. That pre-freshman me who sought dramatic landscapes and was creatively curious. It would take years before I embraced that stuffed down part of myself.
One of my big regrets later in life was that I missed the magic of gorges, waterfalls, and thick forests with trees that drop black walnuts and chestnuts in thunks. I missed the vibrant and kind community.
I wasn’t that eager to revisit this place where a lot of yuck in my life occurred. But I was determined to give myself an opportunity to experience what I never gifted myself way back then. When Dave encouraged me to show him. I reluctantly agreed.
Wow. What a weekend.
Hello, again Ithaca, NY— you are indeed “gorges” and thank you for giving me another chance.

It’s been a while since and I embarked on an expedition together. This secret scout trip reminds me what a delicate balance any partnership is. In tight spaces, in meetings and as each contributes our specified knowledge, we work to keep loving partnership at its base while shifting into colleague status. It’s both a joy and a challenge. Propelled by the spirit of discovery, on this trip we were surprisingly seasick, wildly intrigued, and deeply engaged. As a bonus, our tiny Airbnb enjoyed the most epic sunrises.
