It is with profound sadness that we share that former Harriet Morel Oxman Director of Catherwood Library, Gordon Law, passed away this month at the age of 76. A great sense of the importance of service drove everything that Gordon did. He was first and foremost a gentleman, approaching everyone and everything with utmost civility and geniality. His greatest achievement at Cornell was overseeing the design and construction of the present Catherwood Library. Gordon will be missed.

This weekend we're remembering all the lives lost at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. This collection of hardhats from various unions in the building trades including those worn at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks. The ILR School partnered with the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York to create a building trades support network for members who were impacted by their recovery and cleanup efforts. The program includes educational workshops on stress and anxiety, special events for workers and their families, and referrals for additional support services.

These helmets are from our ILR School Jeffrey Grabelski Memorabilia Collection. After 9/11, Jeffrey Grabelsky represented the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York on the World Trade Center Emergency Project Labor-Management Partnership. He began his career in the labor movement working and organizing in the steel industry in 1973, has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for thirty years, and is the former national organizing director of the Building and Construction Trades Department (AFL-CIO).
