One of the biggest needs identified by residents in southeast Irving is low-cost legal aid. That’s why The Table- Irving has partnered with Administer Justice to bring our Legal Aid Center to the Southeast Irving Community Center. Located at 1712 Carl Rd. and open every second Saturday of the month from 9AM - 12 noon.
The problem is, we were full in June, and we are full in July.
The answer to the equation is simple, the more volunteer attorneys we have the more people we can help. The more volunteer attorneys we have the more our attorneys can rotate and lessen the load for everyone. If you're an attorney, will you help us expand our team and help others?
Administer Justice has developed and refined the Legal Aid Center model for over 25 years at over 130 locations nationwide. More than 100,000 clients have been guided through confusing legal problems with help from a knowledgeable volunteer attorney like you. 3-4 hours a month can make a big difference.

This is what collaboration between nonprofits looks like. The Table- Irving has partnered with Many Helping Hands Ministry for years to offer housing and homeless services to our neighbors experiencing homelessness in Irving. Today, they presented The Table with a check for $2,500 to help us continue to make a difference in Irving. We are overwhelmed with their generosity-- and as always with their hearts for helping the homeless in Irving.
In 2025-2026 The Table has collaborated with over 20 nonprofits, churches and businesses, groups like Mission Alive, Missions at IBC, Oak Haven United Methodist Church, First Irving, St Vincent de Paul, Joe's Coffee Shop, The Main Place, Irving Community Action Network, All Things Made New, the Irving Inclement Weather Shelter, and so many more. Why? Because we're far better when we work together. Thanks Lana, Pat, Dennis, and all the great folks at Many Helping Hands for showing us how it's done!

Get Ready, this is a long one, but it's also a story we haven’t shared on social media before.
The Housing Program at The Table- Irving has worked hard over the past couple of years to assist well over a hundred of Irving‘s homeless and housing unstable populations to find a place to call home. Our goal isn’t just to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness find housing, our goal is to help them stay housed. That’s why we’re not a local real estate company helping anyone that calls to find inexpensive housing. We help those who are homeless and struggling with life to build better lives. At our Southeast Irving Community Center, we do that by providing resources and community to assist our neighbors experiencing homelessness find permanent housing. Then help them grow beyond that point by assisting them to get past the roadblocks, or break thru the walls that many face that keep them from truly experiencing full and abundant lives. This weekend was an example of those principles at work with our, “Pathway to a Better Life” Weekend in partnership with Watershed Initiative, and the Sweet Deeds Foundation. Sweet Deeds Foundation promotes holistic support for individuals and families overlooked by society using the tools of mental health and collaborative partnerships. Through this partnership, our weekend leaders Dr. Karen Clifton-Simmons LPC-S, along with Micheal Williams and Brionna Hope both Master’s Level Associates worked to equip a group of 22 men and women to take those next steps in their lives. They inspired hope, fostered healing, and empowered our neighbors to reframe past mistakes as stepping stones toward personal growth. All our folks are now housing stable. Well what comes next? What about those who weren’t homeless but feel just as stuck, how can we get past other roadblocks or walls that get in our way?
A big part of what we’re doing is building a community. A healthy, non-toxic group of people who under the best circumstances encourage each other, walk together in accountability, and grow together. We have found that people that are newly housed or others in the community who stay to themselves in isolation, unfortunately set themselves up for failure. Many of our homeless neighbor have allowed their lives to become isolated from anything other than toxic relationships. For those that are housed and isolate, they are simply alone. That isolation can be devastating and among low-income Americans roughly 48% live in social isolation, 80% have experienced trauma or deal with mental health issues, 60% struggle with anxiety and 30% deal with narcotic and alcohol addiction. Where will these folks find help and hope?? Healthy community doesn’t fix everything, but if we can partner that community with other resources maybe people can find the full and abundant life that Jesus promised.
For many that starts with our Housing Program. As I mentioned however we offer more than housing assistance. Our Housing Program starts with filling out an application, and a initial interview to find out if the individual or family qualifies. One requirement is a source of income. Every person that we house has a job or source of income like Social Security or SS Disability. Every person we house signs their own lease, pays their own deposit, and is responsible for paying their own rent every month. So many of the people we meet are tired and beaten down. We want them to begin to prove to themselves from day one that they can do this! We don’t work with vouchers or government programs. Part of our philosophy is; if people really want to get off the streets, they’ll be willing to take the steps to get off the streets. With the hundreds of individuals and families who are in our homeless population in Irving alone, not everyone is willing to do what it takes to get housed and stay housed. We dismiss the idea that some people want to stay homeless, as we get to know and build trust with individuals, we haven’t found that to be the case. We have found, however, that some people aren’t willing to take the steps necessary to find affordable housing and stability off the streets. We can’t change everything, we can’t fix everything and we can’t help everyone. This is where we have chosen to start. In a relatively small corner of south Irving. We believe that our God allows us to be apart of His vision for south Irving. Pouring into the local homeless population along with the community as a whole. As as He continues to provide the people and the resources, we’ll continue to follow His lead.
