Using the Innova 5610 scanner, we diagnosed the issue, replaced the valve cover, valve cover gasket, intake manifold gasket, and throttle body gasket, then made sure the vehicle was running properly before handing it back.

his Dodge Ram had engine oil everywhere — even all over the transmission.

On 3.6 Pentastar engines, a leaking oil cooler can drip down the back of the engine and completely coat the transmission, making the leak look way worse than it actually is.

The customer also complained about the oil pressure light randomly coming on, which pointed us straight toward a failing oil pressure sender inside the oil cooler assembly.

To fix it properly, we had to tear into the intake manifold and replace everything underneath.

This Dodge Ram’s oil leak turned out to be way worse than expected…

After tearing everything apart, we found the oil filter housing was completely cracked — a super common issue on the 3.6 Pentastar engines.

The problem?

We had to wait until the next day for the replacement part to arrive before we could finally finish the repair.

Now it was time to install the new Dorman oil filter housing and get this truck safely back on the road.

Taking apart a Dodge Ram 3.6 Pentastar engine to reach the real problem…

In order to replace the leaking oil cooler, ignition coil, and spark plugs, we had to remove the upper intake manifold for full access to the engine valley.

A lot of people avoid jobs like this because they look intimidating—but step by step, it’s actually pretty straightforward.

This Dodge Ram came in with a P0303 cylinder 3 misfire…

So instead of guessing, we swapped the ignition coils between cylinders to see if the misfire would follow.

After clearing the codes and restarting the engine, the misfire moved from cylinder 3 to cylinder 1 — instantly confirming the ignition coil was bad.

Simple diagnostic steps like this can save hours of unnecessary repairs.
