“My mother said to me, 'If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope.' Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso.”

~Pablo Picasso

“Your life doesn’t have to look like someone else’s. That doesn’t mean you won’t have an incredible life. Don’t let timelines and deadlines stop you from experiencing your life.” Wise words from Jay Shetty who entangles the concept of the competitiveness of society at large.

We have a tendency to compare our lives with our friends, our neighbors and somehow get lost in the abyss of it all, attempting to show others that we have it all together. We are always running away from time… trying to defeat time… rushing in school… competing against our friends… our nemesis… to get into the best college and get the best scholarship, and then in a hurry again while in college, and then rushing and diving into real world, the competitive career-oriented world… But you cannot defeat time… so I ask you, what’s this all for? Throughout my life, I have realized that “timelines and deadlines” don’t exist in the world where fate plays a role. I don’t know how you feel, but I feel that fate plays a major role in the timing of it all, as we are directed toward our pursuit of happiness. I know this because fate has made a lasting impression in my life... Fate kept knocking and I kept ignoring… I chose not to answer or acknowledge it for whatever reason. When I reflect back, I don’t know why I didn’t answer. But I can tell you this much - you must answer it, for it will keep knocking on your door until you do… Because no matter what you do, you cannot escape your fate. I am reminded of a quote by philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson which is my motto in life, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” If you remain true to who you are, timelines and deadlines become obsolete… you can accomplish your greatest dreams..., and you can be free from society’s tangled demands… you can open the door, and allow the hands of fate to lead you to your purpose in life…
