Rotary Club of Inverness

Happy 250th BD, America! We celebrated by joining forces with our fellow Rotarians in the Downtown Club of Inverness and poured and sold some ice cold brews at Liberty Park amidst the fireworks and celebration. In addition, our thirsty celebrators helped our both clubs raise some funds for our many local projects!

How do we grow our leaders? We start them young with programs like the recent S4TL (Seminar for Tomorrow's Leaders). High school students from all over our state came together at Florida Southern University for a week of leadership training, problem-solving, personal growth, and a bit of fun thrown in too. Friendships were formed and new leaders were grown! Special thanks to Holli for delivering our candidate from Citrus High, Izzy, to the seminar and for participating in the observation day and rap sessions.

Our meetings the last couple of weeks included two very important topics. On June 9th we heard from Hillary Whirle from the Sheriff's Dept regarding disaster preparedness in our county. Then on June 16th our own Lace Blue-McLean reviewed and enlightened us regarding our local environmental programs and our responsibilities to "reuse, recycle and reduce." In addition to these enlightening programs, we welcomed some very special guests and inched a bit closer to our 50/50 jackpot, now well over $1,100!
