Besides being the best (and cutest) husband ever, Patrick is in charge of the content for each issue of Batch. The article ideas come from all over the place, but he really hones them in and pushes them to be the best they can be. The content in Batch is untraditional journalism with a very specific community-focused voice, so editing and refining the content can be a challenge, but he does it with ease. Batch would truly not be as great as is it without him. ❤️

Patrick was a freshman English teacher for 10 years (which is why he’s so good at this), and retired from teaching in 2020 to start 🤝 if you like RPGs and podcasts, you should give it a listen.

🌱THE LAWNMOWER ✂️ I gotta tell you, I don’t typically like matcha because it is too earthy/grassy for my taste, but HOLY MOLY the Lawnmower at is truly unbelievable.

It’s matcha + orange blossom water + house-made watermelon syrup that’s shaken and topped with fresh mint 😮‍💨

made one for me to try when we stopped in on Sunday, and I was super nervous but D*NG this is one of the best tea drinks I have ever had.
finch is the tea aficionado in our house, and he helped me down this drink so fast. A lot of coffee shops really skimp on tea selections, but Patrick highly approves of the Lawnmower and Rabble’s selection of teas—both by the cup and the loose leaf tea for sale from . Normally I’m the one talking coffee, but this time Mitchell and Patrick talked about tea the whole time, and it was *chef’s kiss*

Unfortunately, the Lawnmower is a summer specialty, so it’s only going to be around for a week or two. Moral of this story: go get it NOW. It’s so refreshing, smooth, and perfectly balanced 🤤

COOL FRIENDS DOING COOL STUFF: Yeah, it’s not necessarily coffee, but our friends at are helping lead the mocktail charge in Indy. This Tuesday, August 23, they’re kicking off a Mocktail Competition at where 12 local drink builders from all backgrounds will Throwdown with their own music-inspired mocktails. The top 6 will move onto around 2 in September, and the top 3 will battle for the top spot in October for Round 3.

I personally love what is doing in the zero-proof movement, and this is a really cool thing to see in Indy. I worked in the service industry for a long time and had a weird relationship with alcohol, so this kinda thing gets me really hyped. Plus, I just love to see talented people do really creative things for ~everybody~
