Indiana State Museum - Color of Style — Stylenspire a Color of Style exhibit

The first stretch. 💭

QUESTIONS - Once I decided to make this collection I started with asking myself questions. The what, why, and how of creating a truly unique and beautiful design story.

COLOR - I considered the PANTONE COLOR compass, printed pictures of it and studied it for a bit. Then I pulled together some Fabric swatches from that color palette to see what color story it formed for me.

FABRIC - Once I made a color-pattern decision, I started looking at different fabrics. Keeping to the Afro-Contemporary aesthetic of , I leaned into using afrocentric fabrics to create culturally mod designs.

An exploration to interpret in another dimension. Putting action to dreams to expand my creative capacity as a and engage a new audience experience for what means to .

Yesterday I entered into the 2019 FedEx Small Business Grant Contest and I was so scared.
I did not want to do it.
I did not want to have to ask for help.
I did not want to be vulnerable.
The vision and goals are too big for me.
While that negative voice kept getting louder and louder, I also heard a still small voice saying "but you have always done it afraid, and God Himself has filled your gaps".
So I did it. I entered into the competition and I need your help. As a small business, Stylenspire needs funding to grow, and one can only grow as big as their village.
My village is global. It is each and every one of you tucked away in some part of the world. I am so blessed to have the gift that I have and to be able to serve you doing what I do, especially with the Gift-Giver filling my gaps.
