Roberts Camera Director of Education Walt Kuhn has photographed close to 30 Indy 500s since he picked up a camera 40+ years ago. This month is one of the busiest of his year, but we reached out and asked if he’d be willing to share some of the images that have really stuck with him. Not his most technical. Not his most decorated. The ones that take him back to very specific moments.
 
This is a few of those.
 
Walt has covered the race for decades, photographing drivers and victories and moments of history that live permanently in the record of this sport.
 
Not to mention the fact that he nearly lost his life shooting a race in Phoenix, an incident Walt says changed his perspective on what really matters most. That story is in here too.
