Today, alongside Indy Parks and Recreation and The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis, we're proud to announce our partnership with Bezos Earth Fund through their Greening America's Cities initiative for Reverend Mozel Sanders Park on Indianapolis's west side.

This $10 million investment started with Haughville residents. Their 2024 Riverfront Vision Plan shaped everything about it.

What it builds: 25 acres along the White River, more than 400 new trees, restored wetlands, a community farm and orchard, sports courts, and public art honoring local history. Two miles of new trails will connect to the Central White River Trail and regional greenways.

Green space isn't a luxury. It strengthens communities and improves quality of life. Grateful to Bezos Earth Fund for believing in this community's vision.

Last week, Indianapolis leaders, neighbors and community partners gathered to celebrate the opening of the Grassy Creek Greenway on the city’s Far Eastside. The new trail runs a total of 1.6 miles and provides enhanced access to the Grassy Creek Environmental Community Center. The project received support from CICF’s Connected Communities initiative, made possible through a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. Jenny Boyts, executive director of The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis (a CICF fund) attended the ribbon cutting on behalf of CICF.
In her remarks, Jenny said: "Parks aren’t simply playgrounds and recreation, as important as those are. More people are choosing to stay in communities that invest in a healthier future. They want to move to and remain in places that invest in quality of life, making it easier for people to live an active life in safer, connected places...Today is a celebration of a new trail segment. But it is also a celebration of our momentum: momentum toward a city where parks are easier to reach, trails are easier to use, and more people can experience the benefits of nature close to home.”
