It’s my birthday today, and the best gift I could ask for is helping us welcome another rescue home. ❤️

Today, a senior pony in his 20s is arriving at Indiana Barnyard. He came from the same place Fig and Newton came from and was nearly starved to death before reaching safety there. He’s gained some weight, but he still needs veterinary care and support.

In honor of Fig, we are hoping to raise $1,500 to cover hauling, his first vet visit, and immediate care.

Every horse deserves a safe place to land. Today, this little guy gets his chance.

Update on Newton 🤍

For those just seeing this for the first time, Newton was diagnosed with meningitis, a rare and serious infection and inflammation around the brain and spinal cord. It is not contagious and not something we could have prevented.

We received an update and a video from Dr. Jamieson and team tonight and Newton is continuing to improve.

He is standing much more normally, has not fallen today, his fever has resolved, and his vision is starting to come back. He is brighter and more engaged, and it feels like we are finally moving in the right direction.

One of the things that meant so much to us is that the team at Purdue even went out and picked fresh grass for him to eat. That kind of care and thoughtfulness says everything about who they are and how much they care about him.

We are still taking this one day at a time. This is a serious condition and he still has a long road ahead, but we are feeling hopeful in a way we were not before.

We are also fundraising to help cover his hospital care, which is currently estimated around $5,000. So far we have raised about $1,200 and are incredibly grateful.

Thank you for all of the support, prayers, and messages. It truly means more than we can say.

A special thank you to Dr. Jamieson and her team at Purdue for the incredible care they are giving Newton 🤍
