Today we’re talking timeline of a purchase agreement and when you should put an offer on a home so that it coincides with the end of your lease.

Generally, after an offer is accepted it takes 30 days to close on your home with keys in hand. After you close, your first mortgage payment isn’t due for around two months. That means, you should have an accepted offer no later than two months before you lease end, that way you have some time to move your things over and can have a month of no payments if you time it correctly.

It’s important that you start having these conversations with a real estate professional six months before the lease ends so we can figure out the best scenario for you.

Are you ready to end your lease and buy your first home?

Do you make less than $88,000 a year and want $20,000 in grant money to help you purchase your first home? Well on April 14 those funds open up and it’s important to start planning now!

If your lease is ending in May or June this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of what’s available! Ideally you will be searching for a home and submitting an offer on April 13-15 to secure the funds before they run out!
