We aim to serve and uplift our Black sisters and brothers - and all marginalized folks - through creativity. Using products as our vehicle, we hope to cultivate a sense of community, uplift historically silenced voices, and remind folks that simply by being themselves, they are Gifted. Indianapolis is a blank canvas. Often the stories and histories of Black and Brown communities are left untold. We hope to use this opportunity to establish Gifted as a cornerstone in the community, empowering other marginalized creatives to speak their truth. In the wake of George Floyd’s murder in 2020, we decided to use our collective pain, anger, and grief as fuel to further explore what it means to be Black in America. Gifted is a passion project, born out of 18 years of friendship, that allows us to share our experiences as multiracial men living in Indiana. Growing up, we didn’t see people that looked, talked, or dressed like us represented in artistic spaces. Now, 20 years later, we still don’t see people like us in places and spaces we frequent. Gifted is a culmination of self-care, compassion, and radical self-expression. It is our way of documenting our journey as black men in this country. By doing so, we set out to change our individual narratives and the collective narrative of all Black creatives.
