Where did all the hats go?
They were everywhere. Men, women, and even children wore hats every time they left the house. From the advent of the motion picture camera to the early ‘60s, nearly everyone is wearing a hat. For a woman to go out without a hat in the first half of the 20th century was akin to going out without clothes.
Fashion changed dramatically after World War II, when people in developed countries began to care less about expressing their social status. The rise of youth culture in the 1950s and 1960s emphasized rebellion against traditional norms, including formal dress codes.
Then there was the utimately overwhelming mood of change that swept most of the Western world in the 1960s. But if one thing is true about fashion, it goes in cycles. Hats are ready for their big comeback.
Hats in 2026 are used to elevate simple outfits (like jeans and a tee) into a more polished look. For warmer months, light-colored straw hats are paired with linen and pastel outfits. Add some layered necklaces and a couple of bracelets and you are ready for the fashion movement.
Viv's BoHo Ranch has many styles of hats to try on (we have a big mirror, too). We are at Headquarters Winery & Restaurant on the Square in Harrisonville.

Layered & Stacked Looks
Boho style thrives on abundance. Think multiple necklaces at varying lengths, several bracelets worn together, or rings stacked across multiple fingers. The goal isn't perfection - it's creating a collected-over-time aesthetic that feels personal and curated.
Start out small. Whenever you see a piece of jewelry that speaks to you, add it to your collection. It takes time to create your look.
Viv's BoHo Ranch is at Headquarters Winery & Mercantile on the Harrisonville Square. Our shop is on the 2nd floor, in the back, on the right side. Come by and add something to your look or start your own curated boho collection.
