We are proud to share that Berea-Midpark High School student Lea Jacobs earned top recognition at the 2025 TECH CORPS Hackathon. Lea, a 10th grader, was named a regional winner in this statewide mobile app development challenge that brought together nearly 300 students across Ohio.

Lea and her team, TERIYAKI, created an app designed to help people connect with their community so they can easily find the support they need. Students spent nine hours designing, coding, and presenting innovative solutions inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

As a regional winner, Lea received a $200 digital gift card for creativity, teamwork, and commitment throughout the event. Her work will be recognized during the TECH CORPS statewide celebration on December 10.

Throughout the challenge, Lea demonstrated the Portrait of a Titan competencies. She thought critically about a real community need. She collaborated with her team to design a solution. She communicated her ideas clearly. And she showed adaptability as she worked through the nine hour build. These are the skills that matter. We are proud to see Lea put them into practice on a statewide stage.
