Meet your instructor - Joseph/Joey

Joey started training in Sh*to-Ryu Genbu-Kai while attending Pitt State University in 2011. After completing a semester, life had gotten in the way in the form of a job. It wasn’t until January of 2014 that he was able to get back to regular training.

Joey has competed and trained in several different states. His training has included not only karate, but also kobudo (weapons) and batto (Japanese sword). Joey tested for his black belt in karate in 2017, and just recently tested for black belt in Kobudo. He is currently second kyu (below black belt rank) in batto.

Joey is excited to get started here in Independence and spread the joy, passion, and inspiration he has received from this amazing art with others.
