From intern to federal employee and board member. Jhordan Woodard spent his internship at CAPACares learning what it means to truly show up for others, and he has never stopped. His biggest takeaway? The importance of being a safe place for the people around you. We are grateful for Jhordan's years of dedication, both as an intern and as a longtime board member.

For years, the Moananu family has run a fireworks stand in Independence and quietly donated a portion of their proceeds to CAPACares. No fanfare. No big announcement. Just a family who believes in what we do and shows up for our community year after year.

This week, our Operations Manager Farrah Ero, VP of Fundraising and Philanthropy Forrest Saucier, and VP of Programs Lexi Wright got to spend time with several members of the Johnston family to say thank you in person.

Support like this helps us keep counseling, education, and family support services free and accessible for the families who need them. We are so grateful. Thank you, to the entire Moananu family.

Fireworks can be very stressful for your neighbors, human and animal alike, including veterans, survivors of trauma, and those with sensory sensitivities. Please celebrate responsibly.

Our offices are closed today, but if you are in immediate crisis, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call/text 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Happy 13th CAPAversary to Alena, our Bilingual Home Visitor. Alena expands our Healthy Families Jackson County™ services, helping us support Spanish-speaking clients. Through the years, Alena has walked alongside many parents from the birth of their child all the way through "graduation" at the child's third birthday.

Alena shared that she is, "thankful for the families that let me come into their homes every day, and let me help them build parenting or attachment skills with vulnerability and zero judgment." This mindset is key to the Healthy Families program, and a huge part of why our Home Visiting team was accredited through Healthy Families America.

Congratulations, Alena!

Mindy Kissner, our Director of Family Support Services, shared that her grandsons Kyper and Jett recently volunteered at Happy Bottoms alongside their other grandma, Janet. The boys helped put together a diaper order that came straight to CAPACares!

We're so grateful for our partnership with Happy Bottoms, which helps supplement our Healthy Families Jackson County™ clients' diaper supply, as well as for awesome volunteers like Jett, Kyper, and Janet, who help make it possible.
