How to do a basic belt tie.
Since all our students are new to BJJ Coach Raul has had to demonstrate this tie quite a bit!
Here he is demonstrating it to the kids before our BJJ kids class.

Last night our students had the privilege of learning directly from the source!
Grandmaster Joe Moreira who is celebrating 60 years on the mat in 2026 stopped by our class last night to teach our newbies. For some of our students it was their first time ever on the mat!
We feel so honored to have Grandmaster Joe grace us with his wealth of knowledge and to be able to provide this level of BJJ expertise to the Huron Community!
Most BJJ students never even see a red belt forget about have the opportunity to train directly with one!

🎉 What a success! Yesterday evening we had our kickoff seminars with Grandmaster Joe Moreira at Solveig 🎉
We started the evening off with the women’s self defense course and wrapped it up with an intro to BJJ.
5 tough ladies powered through both courses!
3 hours is impressive for any student, but especially these women since it was their first time on the mats!
It was a fun filled evening filled with learning and laughter, excitement and exercise!
Big Thanks to Grandmaster Joe Moreira for taking time out of his nonstop world travels to stop in our little city of Huron and bestow some of his infinte knowledge on us. Knowledge that he’s gained over the past 55+ years doing BJJ!
❄️ A South Dakota December must have been a shock for him coming from his home in Brasil where it’s currently summer and well over 100 degrees! ☀️
❤️ Extra special thanks to our host Katie at Solveig! Not just for sharing her beautiful gym with us but for welcoming us with open arms into her Solveig Family She’s such a blessing to the Huron Community! ❤️
And of course thanks to all the participants who took the time to come and share our passion for BJJ with us! We feel honored to have kicked off OG Jiujitsu with each and everyone of you!
