Did you know: the hen that *hatches* the baby chick is usually not the one who laid the egg? A broody hen (that means a hen that wants to be a mom) will sit on a clutch of eggs, regardless of which chicken(s) laid them.

Chickens are the original surrogate moms! 🙂

Did you know:

The shells of chicken eggs can be only two colors: white or blue. A brown egg is a white shell with a brown pigment coated onto it before the chicken lays the egg. A green egg is created by a hen that lays a blue egg with a brown coating on top.
