If you use Microsoft Word and do not want to click several times to open or save a file, this might be of use to you.
The new version of Office uses what is called the Backstage. It shows recent documents and options for opening/saving but it adds several steps to the process of dealing with your documents. You can turn off this Backstage by doing the following:
1. Click File.
2. Select Options.
3. In the Word Options window select Save.
4. Find the check box for Backstage as shown in the picture.
5. "Don't show the Backstage when opening or saving files."
6. Click the check box.
7. Click OK to save your changes.
This will change the behavior of all Microsoft Office products.
Note: to disable the Start screen when first opening an application, you must change this setting for each application. Also in the Options window, at the bottom of the General section and uncheck "Show the Start screen when this application starts."
Hope you find this useful!
