China's Ganfeng Lithium has acquired a 50% stake in Mali's Goulamina lithium mine, one of Africa's largest.

The $130 million investment aims to produce 506,000 tons of spodumene concentrate annually, significantly enhancing China's lithium supply for electric vehicle batteries. The mine's first shipment is expected in early 2025, with plans to expand production to 900,000 tonnes per year.

This strategic move strengthens China's position in the global lithium market, crucial for its dominance in EV battery manufacturing.
