This week at Yetispace:

Shutdown continues, as you must know. We found out that our invoices can still get paid for another five weeks or so. That's good news. We continue to make upgrades and repairs to our facility.

This week, a new electrical subpanel is going into our shop. This will allow us to use several tools at once and will also provide an outside disconnect for our air compressor. The old compressor shed is getting widened and installed outside (probably next week on this). Additionally, our new range is installed in the break room, kitchen base cabinets are fixin' to get installed, and wall cabinets are lined up, too. There's still beer in the fridge and the bow is cutting through the breakers. Haarrrrgh.

Quite a few folks have asked me how we are doing during this shutdown. Now that it’s dragging on, I am taking a moment to respond. Short answer: Everyone at Yetispace is working full time and getting paid.

Yetispace is a fiscally conservative company and we have saved up for years (since 2013...) for this kind of thing. We have months of payroll margin in the bank. What we can’t do is work at MSFC. That said, we are authorized by our various primes to work offsite on projects that can be progressed. We may or may not get paid during the shutdown, we don’t know yet. That’s pretty much all engineer work. The Yetispace Techs are dependent on the MSFC 4205 shop to perform billable work, so they can’t work offsite on much. Some training and a few design tasks. Thus, they are making some significant upgrades to our offsite facility, such as pouring a huge concrete pad (shown below), bringing our cross-shop compressed air system online, improving our break room with a range, and other smaller tasks.

Depending on how long this lasts, we may fabricate our own cryogenic storage and transfer system and possibly include a hot fire test stand.

Quite a few folks have asked about our viability, so I’ll say this. We can make it until June without batting an eye. Then, it gets trickier, but we will carry on until the mast goes under. All that said, now is an excellent time to bring us on if you need us. We can do just about everything in our offsite facility. Additionally, I’m willing to add capability to make your project successful.
