Today we revisit April Mae & the June Bugs with guest bassist Eric Frey from this year's World's Longest-Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival - Huntsville, Alabama. Between Eric's cool cat bass licks, April's rad vocals and washboard and Catfish's high energy cigar box guitar, they had the house jumpin' until it quite literally rained so loud their music was drowned out...But alas, April was inspired to sing the Festival theme song Sister Rosetta Tharpe's "Up Above My Head" adding a special verse in memory of Microwave Dave and the skies transformed leaving a spectacular rainbow. The icing on the proverbial cake of the 22nd annual World's Longest-Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival - Huntsville, Alabama, was Grammy-winner Gary Nichols and The FAME Gang of FAME Recording Studios & Publishing Co. and a special guest appearance by Kensie Coppin. They blew the doors off what was an incredible three days, mixing multiple genres in one show. A sudden thunderstorm put a hamper on the final day of the 22nd annual World's Longest-Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival - Huntsville, Alabama, but that double rainbow was sure spectacular!
