Tonight we bid farewell to the 2026 HBC 8th graders, they concluded their time as middle school baseball players.

We have enjoyed watching them grow and developed as young men and ball players.

The Highlander Baseball Club was honored to have its founder, David Amsbary, throw out the first pitch at the "Highlander Spring Classic" on Friday evening at Cook-Holbrook Stadium.

David established the Highlander Baseball Club in 2021 to provide middle school baseball players with the opportunity to compete at that level.

In 2022, he launched the "Highlander Spring Classic," a tournament that has enabled players from the Tri-State area and all schools in Cabell County to participate in a middle school baseball tournament, despite the county lacking sanctioned middle school baseball.

Over the winter, David relinquished leadership of the club, but his legacy will endure with each middle school club game played in Cabell County.

David, the club appreciates your significant contributions to the sport and, more importantly, your dedication to the youth.
