Happy my friends 💕
I haven’t really shared my story on here in depth. For me coming out happened wayyyy later in life. Like a little over a year ago later in life.
I always felt like something was missing. Like there was something wrong with me. Like I was expecting something to be there that wasn’t.
The truth is I think a part of me always knew, but I didn’t acknowledge it or think it was what it was. It took a trip to israel, a lot of soul searching, a willingness to take a chance and loving myself enough to be open to the possibility of being happy.
Hear that again. Loving yourself enough to be open to the possibility of being happy. Seems so simple but yet so many of us stop ourselves from taking that step to let our true selves come through. How many times I was willing to settle with something that didn’t quite feel right but seemed like it was the “norm” or what I should be doing.
Coming out, or allowing myself to be me for the first time in 32 years was the most freeing, beautiful, happy feeling I’ve ever experienced. I was lucky to have nothing but love and support from my family and friends. I know that’s not always the case. I’m lucky I found my soulmate pretty quickly after coming out but I think it’s because I was finally open and finally free. Free to be me. The weight of societal pressure to appear “normal” was lifted off me.
I think the message I am trying to share is that no matter what, don’t be afraid to be your true self, whatever that looks like you’re not alone. And that feeling on the other side is glorious. 🌈❤️.
